Today, we ventured away from Muncaster Castle, heading to Hawkshead, a town associated with Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. We returned to Muncaster Castle in mid-afternoon, in time to see the herons feeding (i.e., fighting each other for scraps of chicken), then wandered through the castle’s extensive set of gardens.
